Facebook has added a GIF creator to the camera in iOS letting you post short video loops to your profile or story. Users can post their GIFs to their status or story and can also save them to their smartphone. The social network has quietly updated the app’s camera to let you make short GIF. It also offers different ways to edit the GIF with frames and filters. Here are the details we know so far about Facebook new GIF maker tool.
Easy to Use Feature
The users will notice a GIF option at the top of the screen. This can be used to record a short GIF. You can also use the effects and frames available within Facebook’s camera. You can then add that GIF to your Facebook story.
How to Use Facebook New GIF Maker Tool?
- Open Facebook App
- Tap on the camera button at the top or swipe from left on the news feed.
- Now, you will see tabs: Normal and GIF.
- Normal lets you take pictures and record normal videos.
- GIF lets you record three-second clip.
- Select GIF and start recording.
- After this, you will see additional editing tools such as frames, emoji, text and effects.
- When you are done with customizing the GIF; save the final creation to your phone.
- Or, you can also upload it to your Facebook story or post it to your profile.

Set GIF as your Profile Picture
In addition, you can also set GIF as your profile picture on Facebook. You can turn your normal picture into GIF by clicking Edit in the bottom right corner and tapping Select Profile Video. This opens up your camera roll and the list of videos. Now, select the GIF and tap Save.
Share GIF
You can share GIFs on Facebook only. They save can videos and cannot be sent to other platforms via Facebook.
GIF creation is only available to a limited number of users as of now and will gradually roll out over the next few days. The feature is seen only on iOS and it could be rolling out just for iOS as of now.
Facebook has introduced the GIF option in the comments section last month. Sending GIFs on Messenger and WhatsApp is already there. Now, this feature of GIF creation is being included so as to make it easy to create own GIFs.
