Live Video Feature by Instagram
After launch of ephemeral live video to its users, Instagram has announced its new live-streaming service is now rolling out to the US users. You can now start a live chat from the camera in the app’s Stories section and then tapping the toggle to enter “Live” Mode. Under the Explore tab, a new “Top Live” section appears that shows a selection of the best content as adjudged by the company’s algorithm. Here are the complete details about this new live video feature.
Just like Instagram Stories, the live broadcasts also disappear after 24 hours. You can live stream for up to an hour via the app. You have the option to pin comments or turn-off comments. Instagram live video feature is similar to Facebook Live launched in January. The live streaming feature on Facebook and Instagram seem nearly identical.
Live Broadcasts
Instagram live video is one of the many few features that the company has released in the past few months. To use this feature, swipe right on your main Instagram feed to move to the Instagram Story View. There, you find a Live Option next to the Normal and Boomerang options. Instagram Live is built upon the Stories feature of the app that lets users share a 10-second video clip and it disappears after 24 hours.
Earlier, Instagram introduced disappearing pictures and videos to integrate some of the best features of Snapchat in their system. With this new feature, you can broadcast a live video by going to Stories camera and swiping to Live Mode. Viewers can also tap the heart symbol if they like your video in addition to commenting. The live videos that are captured via Instagram are ephemeral which implies that there are no replays and no way to watch previously broadcast content.
