Meet NHL SKATE
Topps has recently announced the launch of NHL SKATE 2017 app. It is the officially-licensed digital trading card collection app of National Hockey League. The app is now available on the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The app gives you access to exclusive digital card designs as well as full motion video clips from select NHL games. “It’s an unbelievable experience to be on the cover of the new Topps hockey app,” said Giroux. “I grew up collecting Topps hockey cards and to see their brand and products evolve digitally is really exciting for hockey. I’m looking forward to jumping in and collecting, trading and playing my Flyers cards!” Let’s have a close look at it.
About the App
The app features Flyers Captain Claude Firoux as the app cover star and includes performance-based contests as well. These contents are updated in real-time during live NHL games. It is for the first time that Topps includes full motion video clips from select NHL moments. Topps is a well-known sports card and candy company and has collaborated with NHL, BAMTech and NHLPA to design the app.
Video Trading Cards
The app brings video trading cards to the users which are called as Topps Focus. This, thus, brings the action of NHL to life using NHL videos. Users can use these cards to watch NHL video clips of the moments that have led to the images on the cards. Topps said that the cards include video clips from current NHL season as well.
Compete with Players
In this app, users will find themselves competing in contents with other players for gaining in-app rewards. These contests are based on real-world NHL games that are about to take place in the near future. NHL SKATE scoring system allows users to play in real time; predict changes as well as swap cards.
New Cards
Users can purchase by opening pack of free trading cards. They can then purchase additional card packs using coins. The game brings with 25,000 free coins and the additional coins can be bought with time. This trading card app has 30 NHL teams and more than 3,000 cards with new cards are released on a daily basis. Thus, with these cards, users can trade with other users and complete their collections. One user can trade up to 18 cards in a single trade.
