Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus
Chinese mobile phone maker, Xiaomi, has responded to Apple’s iPhone 7 with launch of new smartphones: Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. The phones are an obvious answer to the iPhone as both are powerful devices and the 5s Plus is bigger and has a dual camera. Both smartphones are powered by a Snapdragon 821 SoC coupled with Adreno 530 GPU. Both have a 3,200mAh battery. They will be available in same four color options: gold, rose gold, silver and white. They will go on sale starting September 29 in China.

Mi 5s
The Xiaomi Mi 5s comes with a 5.15-inch full HD screen. Thanks to its special 16 LEDs, the brightness is eye-watering 600nits. This provides enhanced backlight to the smartphone. It will come in two variants: one with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and other one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. In terms of camera, it features 13MP rear camera with f/2.0 unit with Sony IMX 378 sensor having pixel size of 1.55 µm. At the front, there’s a 4MP camera with f/2.0 unit with 2 µm pixels. The rear camera is capable of recording video at 4K 30 fps and 1080p 120fps. At the front, there’s a new ultrasonic fingerprint sensor that uses Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID. This fingerprint sensor captures a more accurate map of the finger. Xiaomi claims that it offers the same level of accuracy and speed as the regular planar fingerprint sensors. It will come in four colors and is priced at CNY 1,999 for 3GB RAM and 64GB storage option.

Mi 5s Plus
Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus features a 5.7-inch full HD screen and is 0.2mm larger than the iPhone 6s Plus. It comes with 4/6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage as well as a fingerprint scanner. The phone features a Sony-made, dual-13MP camera on the back. The setup looks similar to the dual-camera setup on the Huawei P9. The dual-camera setup is the highlight of the Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus. It has two 13MP Sony IMX 378 sensors with same aperture and speed rating as those of the cameras on Mi 5s. It will retail for 2299 CNY for 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option.
