The popular traditional timepiece maker, Casio, is finally getting into the craze of the smartwatch world with launch of a smartwatch called as Casio Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10. It is durable and has been designed for outdoor activities including trekking and mountain biking.
Smart Outdoor is an Android Wear smartwatch and comes with water resistance of up to 50 meters depths and built to military standard specifications.
Design and Display
It has a 1.32-inch 320 x 320 screen with a dual-layer LCD. The smartwatch comes with 61.7mm x 56.4mm x 15.7mm case and comes in a black finish. It also comes in orange, red or army green models. Weighing approximately 93g, it feels weighty on the wrist and screws are clearly visible around the edges of the watch face. It looks like a standard outdoors watch with a military standard heavy-duty aluminum body.
Appearance
The smartwatch features three buttons on the side: one for power and other two for activating the app on your phone. Inside the app, you can tailor alerts so that you don’t miss ideal conditions for your favorite sport. There are two screens: a color LED that’s completely round, and a second monochrome LCD.
Performance
Casio Smart Outdoor Watch is actually the first smartwatch that offers built-in microphone with 50m water resistance to provide protection against rain, sweat etc. It comes with specific functionalities of fishing, cycling and trekking as well. It comes with inclusion of pressure sensor, accelerometer, gyrometer and magnetic sensor. It also notifies you at specific times like sunrise/sunset times, and other fleeting occurrences. There are dedicated button along the sides for tools and apps.
Pricing
It comes with a durable design and a variety of on-board sensors provide users with useful information not available in Apple Watch. Casio WSD-F10 smartwatch will be available for $500 USD. The company has confirmed that it will be available to buy in April 2016 but the countries to which it will be available has not been disclosed.
