About Huawei Mate 8
After lots of rumors and speculations around, Huawei Mate 8 has officially been launched in Shanghai. Mate 8 looks like another great piece of hardware from this Chinese manufacturer. Let’s have a detailed look at its specifications.
Display
Huawei Mate 8 comes with a massive 6” screen with resolution of 1080 pixels by 1920 pixels. Mate 8 is built primarily from aerospace-grade aluminum and features a soft, anodized back. The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor which is expected to be really fast and accurate. The fingerprint scanner is joined by camera and dual-tone LED flash. The fingerprint sensor can be used to unlock the phone and verify the identity. You can use it to open secure files and pictures, unlock apps, turn off the alarm etc.
Processor
The Huawei Mate 8 is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor along with 3GB of RAM. The manufacturer recently announced the new chip. It uses TSMCs 16nm FinFET process and combines a quad-core A72 2.3GHz processor with 4 x A53 1.8GHz processor. The new Kirin processor saves battery on several front which makes it a good choice for those who hate charging their phones every now and then. It runs on Android Marshmallow 6.0 and comes with a 4000mAh non-removable battery.
Camera and Connectivity
On the back of the phone, there’s a fingerprint reader and a 16-megapixel camera. The main famera comes with f/2.0 aperture and three-axis optical image stabilization. There’s an 8-megapixel camera on the front with f/2.4 aperture for video chat and selfies.
The device is dual SIM and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, 3G, 4G. Sensors on the phone include Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, Accelerometer, and Gyroscope.
Availability and Pricing
The device comes in several configurations: 3 or 4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of storage memory. It will initially launch in China in early 2016 starting at 2,999 yuan for the 3GB RAM/32GB of storage model. It is going to be available in four colors: Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold and Mocha Brown.
