In addition to the announcement about Windows 10 editions, Microsoft released a new Windows 10 Mobile preview yesterday. Microsoft has delivered a new build of Windows 10 Insider Preview of phones-build 10080. They are calling the next mobile version of Windows, Windows 10 Mobile, as the company released new build to developers.
Windows 10 Mobile includes some of the major changes such as Windows Store Beta, support for Universal Office apps, as well as four new apps that include Xbox, Music, Video and Camera. This new build supports Lumia 930/Lumia Icon, Lumia 640 and 640XL and HTC One (M8) in addition to supporting 35 devices by second preview.
Windows Phone OS has somewhere fallen short in comparison to Android and iOS. One major reason is lack of enough apps in the Windows Phone Store. Microsoft is looking for change by offering universal apps that work seamlessly across all of its devices. Universal Office apps include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more.
Microsoft announced on its official blog, “Windows 10 Mobile is designed to deliver the best user experience on smaller, mobile, touch-centric devices like smartphones and small tablets. It boasts the same, new universal Windows apps that are included in Windows 10 Home, as well as the new touch-optimised version of Office. Windows 10 Mobile will enable some new devices to take advantage of Continuum for phone, so people can use their phone like a PC when connected to a larger screen.”
For those who are already on the Windows Insider Program can get the update by going to Settings> Update & Recovery> Phone Update. Tap for Check for updates and will this initiate the update process. If you are new to it, you can Join Windows Insider Program and get your phone set up by reading the instructions carefully. The Windows Store Beta for phones has a new visual design and as it in beta, app selection and markets are limited. You can browse, search and download apps, movies as well as TV shows.
