For iPhone Users
When you receive spam messages on your iPhone, it is very easy to block that sender. All you need is just the Settings. Open the message, tap Contact and now, tap the “i” button that appears. You will see a contact card for the spammer and now, you need to scroll down and tap “Block this caller”.
You can also see the list of all blocked numbers. For this, tap Settings> Messages> Blocked. When you want to remove someone from the list, swipe the number from right to left and then tap the Unblock button. That’s it!
For Windows Phone Users
For Windows Phone users there some neat Call+SMS filter feature that is built in. To block a any number Open the Call History and tap and hold any number you want to block and bring the context menu. Select the “block number…” option from that list. You can also turn on Notifications and Live Tile to get notifications about the blocked calls and SMS. This section will also show a list of all your blocked numbers. You can directly get to the Call+SMS filter settings from Settings -> Call+SMS filter option.
For Android Users
For android users, it is not easy to stop SMS spam as compared to iPhone users. There are different choices available to you and you can use the one that best suits your needs.
Contact your carrier
Majority of carriers allow you to block unwanted texts and emails. You just need to contact the carrier and provide necessary details about email or phone number for which you want to block emails or messages. Most spam texts are sent using a computer and an email account and if your carrier gives you an option, you can block all text messages sent as email. There are online tools to block spam as well as you can provide the details of messages via call or email to your carrier. They will add the sender to the block list and you will not be bothered with their messages in future.
Using an App
There are many third-party applications available on the Play Store that help you block SMS. You can choose from free and paid apps and also read the reviews about the app to select the right one. SMS Filter is a useful app that lets you stop SMS spam on your Android device. With this app, you can easily add or remove numbers from the blacklist and silently block messages.
