Facebook Messenger Day
In the latest attempt to attract the youth audience, Facebook is rolling out Messenger Day, new Snapchat clone. With this feature, you can share parts of your day with your Messenger friends and anything you share vanishes after 24 hours. According to Facebook, Messenger Day begins showing up within the app starting March 9. As it a global rollout, Facebook ensures that everything runs as smoothly as possible. This new feature lets you share live video and photo slideshows. It allows users to add frames and effects to their photos within the Messenger app.
Quick Camera
Whether you are already in a conversation or have just opened the app, camera is just a tap away. Messenger Day puts the smartphone’s camera front and centre and allows users to capture pictures and videos directly in the app. You can snap a quick photo, add a frame and see if any of their friends are watching a movie or going to coffee shop etc. They don’t need to text individually or post in Facebook.
24-hour Lifespan
Messenger Day sits atop Facebook Messenger and shows the days of your friends in a row of horizontal icons. Messenger Day lets you post photos and videos that have a shelf-life of 24 hours. After that time period, it gets automatically deleted.
Using Messenger Day
Users can interface with specific posts by sending a message to the poster. There’s an Active Now indicator that lets users who is online and available to meet up with in the moment. You can tap to skip through the updates, just like on Snapchat. You can also react to individual Day posts with private messages. Facebook has not included a Like option as of now. You can also choose to send to whoever you want such as multiple friends, groups or your bestie.
Various Effects
Messenger Day includes a comprehensive collection of photos and video filters. You are allowed to choose various special effects. One can select from over 5,000 frames, effects and stickers. Also, many of these are exclusive to Messenger. These designed in collaboration with social media influencers. The most popular art and effects include hearts, rose stickers, bubbles, snow effects and more. One can also create custom filters via text.
Recently, WhatsApp updated its Status Feature to show vanishing posts from a single day. The Messenger Day feature is rolling on both Android and iOS apps.
