Meet HTC 10
HTC have had a rough time in recent years and the fans have long been waiting for a flagship product. The company has unveiled its new HTC 10 smartphone today. Successor to HTC One M9, this smartphone comes with a gorgeous design, fingerprint sensor, awesome performance and good multimedia features. It gives direct competition to the recently announced Huawei P9 and P9 Plus. Here are the complete details.
Design
The design of HTC 10 is similar to that of M9 and A9 and it has got a curved glass and shiny metal bevel. It comes with 5.2-inch, Quad HD Super LCD 5 display. According to the company, the display is 30% more color than last year’s phone. The screen is protected with Gorilla Glass with curved edges that blend into phone’s metal frame. Below the display, there’s a fingerprint scanner with 2.0 second unlock, with support for Google Now.
Processor
Under the hood, it houses quad-core Snapdragon 820 chip paired with 4GB of RAM. This chipset/RAM combination was also seen in LG G5. HTC says that the software and hardware of the phone have been optimized for faster touch response. It is 50% more responsive than its predecessor. The phone features an Adreno 530 chip for graphic processing. HTC is going to offer 32GB and 64GB versions and both have microSD card slots that can take cards as large as 2TB.
Audio and Battery
HTC BoomSound has been revamped and the handset has been engineered for audiophiles. The BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition features Dolby Audio and three microphones with noise cancellation. It comes with a 3,000mAh battery which can be recharged using the included rapid charger. The charger also draws heat out of the phone to offer safer charging. The battery is good for up to two days and supports Quick Charge 3.0 through phone’s USB Type-C port. The company also claimed that the handset can be charged up to 50% in just 30 minutes.
Camera
HTC 10 features a 12-Ultrapixel rear camera. The sensor comes with optically stabilized f/1.8 lens that is expected to take better pictures even in low light. It is accompanied by a dual-LED flash and the camera is also capable of recording 4K video with 24-bit high resolution audio. At the front, there’s a 5MP shooter with 1.34 micron pixels and f/1.8 aperture.
Other Features
HTC says that it has reduced the number of pre-loaded apps and bloatware to improve the performance. The company has also introduced a new Freestyle layout which allows users to choose their own set of apps by dragging icons, stickers and widgets anywhere on the home screen. The connectivity options of the smartphone include Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, DLNA, GPRS/EDGE, 3G and 4G.
Pricing and Availability
It costs $699 and can be pre-ordered directly from HTC official website. It is available in three colors: Carbon Grey, Glacial Silver and Topaz Gold.
